Music Therapy (Expertise needed)?

I would like to pursue a career in music therapy, but I'm not sure what the requirements are in order become a music therapist. What are the requirements and, most importantly, should I highly consider it or stick with majoring in Music Education?

Music Therapy (Expertise needed)?

if you want to be a music therapist it might help you to study psychology or social work and minor in music. that way, you can get a degree that prepares you for graduate work in teh field you want to work in, but also gives you the music, which is what you would use in therapy. there are very specific degrees that can take certain types of insurance, so having a degree as a music therapist may not help you because you need a license or something, depending on your state. also, having such a specialized degree wouldn't help you get other jobs if you decide later that it's not what you want to do anymore. good luck.
