We have our happy music, and our sad music. I have a particular singer I used to listen to when I was stressed and it would calm me down. When we hear fast music in the car, we tend to speed. Music is a very powerful element in our lives, that is why we must be extra careful with what we choose to let into our ears.

To some degree I do think that music can change us. If you listen to angry violent music all the time, I think that there can be a change towards violence and anger in your life . There are other factors, but when you look at a tragedy like Columbine and you find out what kind of music those killers listened to, there is a connection. I've heard it said once, "you become what you behold" I think that applies to ears as well as eyes. If you surround yourself with negativity, you become negative, if you surround yourself with positive things, you become more positive. Music is a part of that.
I agree that music can affect mood, as to magnify the effects, but it won't change behavior.

Listening to a genre won't transform you! That's ridiculous. If anything, music represents your feelings, not the other way around.

Also, there is more than the subjective connection of favorite songs and genre.

The human brain loves music from an objective view. It delights in the repetition of patterns in the musical tones. Without your control, the brain studies every line of music, formulating and predicting what comes next, and thus derives pleasure from the looping melodies or familiar chorus.

Doesn't matter if it is labeled "happy" or "sad" by critics, we connect on the appreciation of the sound nuances and the lyrical content and how it relates to us. It is all about the connections.
Music changes our mood, but not our character. The two should never be confused. Our character is the mask we present to the world, it only reflects our mood sometimes.
Mood yes, maybe. But I doubt music or anything else can change your character. I think, rather the mood is the mask.

Good luck with that!
You are absolutely, 100% correct. Music is a HUGE way that people create moods. Music uses tones and rhythms to change our moods, our hearts and our minds. Feeling hopeless? Listen to some gospel, and your faith will be renewed. Feeling happy? Listen to a great, lively tune, and you will be just great. take Christopher Paolini, for instance. He listened to Carmina Burana while writing the final battle in the book, Eragon. It helped him get into the epic, grandiose mood he needed to write memorable battles. I do the same with all sorts of scenes. Many writers write to music, varying on what scene they are writing. It is really an energy, one that drives cultures, people lives, their moods, their hearts. People have been known to devote their lives to music. How can sound be that pleasing? It just is. It is a mystery, but a wonderful one at that.
Yes. It does every day.
TRUE!! it can change the way any person thinks!! KNOWN FACT
