Music from the JC Penny's commercial?

While watching the Academy Awards tonight, a JC Penny commercial played showing mimiced scenes from many famous movies (ending in Mary Poppins). Does anyone know what music was playing behind it and from what movie that music came from?

The music that played was instrumental with a vocal singing only dut-dut-dut. I think it was from an older film (Butch Cassidy period) and was origionally behind a montage in that film, but I am not certain.

I would really appreciate a detailed answer as it is really bothering me ....

Music from the JC Penny's commercial?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I, too, have been searching for song/artist information for the JC Penny ads aired during Oscars Night.

The song you're looking for is called "South American Getaway" by Burt Bacharach from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

An incomplete list of the rest of the JC Penny ad songs are:

* "How Can It Be?" by Forever Thursday

* "The Way I Feel Inside" by The Zombies

Music is my girlfriend ipod touch commercial?

you know the song on the commercial. it goes:

music is my girfriend

music is my boyfriend

music is my dead end...

whats the title of the song/ and artist??

Cansei de Ser Sexy - music is my hot hot sex

Music is all i know, but i'm so sick of it now and i hate it. but i don't know anything el

please try to give me some advice...

ever since i was little, i've wanted to sing and be a music teacher.

i've been in show choirs and my parents have paid for trips for me to perform in disney, i take singing lessons each week for $30 an hour for the past 4 years, i'm in church choir, blah blah blah.

but it's not fun anymore. i don't like it anymore. i wanted to go to college for it, but i don't think i'm good enough. and even if i was, I DON'T ENJOY IT ANYMORE.

but i don't know anything else. i have good grades and good SAT scores, but i'm slow. and since music was all i did and knew, i don't know what else i'd do with my life. but i hate it now. i absolutely hate it. i can't stand it.

and all the music ed requirements at colleges are mostly intrumental, and i can't play an instrument to save my life. i tried the saxophone last year and didn't get a single note the whole six months.

i'm in the middle of my senior year now, and i'm so hopeless... what should i do?

Music is all i know, but i'm so sick of it now and i hate it. but i don't know anything else. spent so much $$

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

First of all, music and your voice is something you can enjoy for the rest of your life. You can certainly pick another major or just start college without one - take a year's break from music and see how you feel.

Next, there are schools with voice programs. SMU is one that I know ($$$). Not only that but you can study conducting, and other areas.

Now, if you have good grades AND good SATs I would suggest that you are not "slow." You may have a slight learning difference that keeps you from understanding the material as quickly, but you certainly get it.

Go to college (with a good music program) but don't dive in right away. Take your basic courses. You'll figure it out.

Music is all i know, but i'm so sick of it now and i hate it. but i don't know anything else. spent so much $$

your gonna need a montage!
find something new, and more interesting
be a music critic, write and earn big bucks....u can start off from being an amateur one......later on maybe u can change ur mind and pursue music playing again
Well you wanted to be a music teacher so take the basic teaching classes for the first couple of years. Or take some time off. Get a job and work for a year or 2 than see how you feel than. Getting out of high school I wanted to go into early childhood development.. I did college classes for that and hated it so I took a few years off got married started making choices of my own and this spring I'm going back to college and studying Information technology. College is great but sometimes you just need the time off, you've been in school for 13 years. A break could really help.

In modern music like hiphop, rap, & pop what is the music theory behind this types of music?

for ex: in music theory, techniques like counterpoint where %26amp; what modern style music is it used?

In modern music like hiphop, rap, %26amp; pop what is the music theory behind this types of music?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Actually, hiphop, rap, %26amp; pop are descendants of Jazz %26amp; Blues. Despite being "popular" music, and thus criticized as "being consumer drivel" there is a theory behind writting those types of songs.

Jazz and blues are both usully based on a standard twelve-bar chord progressions (and if you study them, you can see correlations to sonato forms or other classical ties). Likewise, its descendants usually use a standard progression, even if it's a simple "I-IV-V-I" If you have any doubt, listen to some music and see how easily you can predict the base line. There *is* a method behind it all.

Also, there's an accepted standard form for pop music, just like classical music (and I mean classical music as in non-pop music, not just specifically music from the Classical Period.) A sonato form has an Exposition, Devolopment, and a Recapitulation and optional Coda; a ronda has theme, episode, theme, episode, etc. In most pop songs, you have the form of Verse, Refrain, Verse, Refrain, Bridge, Refrain, and optional Coda.

True, a lot of people can make up songs as they go, but quite often, they'll end up following theses guidelines, just because they're ingrained into our musical consiousness. Even improvisation is usually done over standard chord progressions; most people can't escape theory unless they study it, and thus know how to avoid it!

In modern music like hiphop, rap, %26amp; pop what is the music theory behind this types of music?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

There is no theory. It's all about expression and creativity.
creativity and expression is a good call. But i think that people want to play it because they cant get good enough to play the good ol rock and roll
no theory but it just about ryming and or just be creative.
The theory is that the average consumer is dumb enough to buy whatever they are told to buy. The types of music you listed are extremely popular right now but, with the right promotion from the right people, Polkas could be the next big thing. Don't believe me, just remember New Kids On The Black. And David Hasselhoff is huge in Europe!

Music vs. Religion?

Much of music listened to today is "against" religion. Be it vulgarity, sexual themes, profanity, or something else, it seems that there is something "bad" in everything.

So my question to you is, how much does your religion affect the music you listen to? And would the music someone listens to cause you to respect them any less?

Music vs. Religion?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I think my religion greatly effects what music I listen to. I love to listen to music and when I listen I pay attention to the words. I try not to judge people based on what they listen to or things like that, but if the person cusses and what not, that would probably make me not want to be around them.

Music vs. Religion?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

I don't worry too much about music. I don't disrespect anyone because of music.
Every thing in every age seems to be 'against' religion. You would hear the same complaint in Roman times.
have you noticed that the #1 songs are usually love songs?
try not listening to the 'recorded' music;

as the indians point out that a picture stills your soul; music recorded is soulless and thusly highly inapropiate for souls(that being music corrupts the soul as the only music should come from your lips and hands to GOD above and not from one man to another to glorify the man...)

HE has Risen
I prefer music from the 16th century, so this doesn't apply to me.

However, in regard to vulgar lyrics... garbage in garbage out... what people fill their mind with is what will come out of them.
I am an agnostic, and some of my favorite bands perfom music that has a very humanistic slant.

Songs with humanist lyrics include.

"Sympathy for the Devil" - The Rolling Stones

"Imagine" - John Lennon

"Free Will" - Rush

"Thick as a Brick" - Jethro Tull

"Syncronicity II" The Police

"Blowin in the Wind" Bob Dylan.
You do realize that Satan is a musical creature. Somehow he has pipes and things on him. But he has always used music, as well as countless other ways to bring people into hell. It's all he has to do. He's going to hell, so he wants to take as many with him as possible.

I generally listen to older music (fleetwood mac, etc.), and Christian music (Amy Grant, etc). But generally I spend a great deal of time on message boards, discussing Biblical end time prophecy (my fav subject, since we're living in it), watching movies, tv etc. Since I'm a Christian (been saved, born again) I know what I should, or shouldn't listen to, watch, or read. Sometimes I slip up, we all do. But repent, and get it out of your life. You also know you can call on God anytime you want about anything. Even finding good music. He's right there with you 24/7/365 and never sleeps or messes up. He knows you more then you know yourself. And he loves you more then any mass of people could ever love you.

Music to your ears.?

A businessman decided to take the afternoon off and got home about three o'clock in the afternoon. The house was quiet and he went upstairs and opened the bedroom door.

His wife was in bed and there was a strange man lying on top of her with his head between her breasts. 'What the hell are you doing?' he shouted.

The man looked up and said, 'I'm listening to the music.'

'What music?' said the husband, and he leaned over and put his ear to his wife's chest. 'I can't hear any music,' he said supiciously.

'Of course you can't,' said the stranger. 'You're not plugged in.'

Music question again?

So im looking for some music. Here are my ideas on what Id like to find more of. I want something like the song by the used, crawls like a worm from a bird, something like panic at the disco, just stuff that is slightly musically complicated, not just guitars and drums, and something kinda freakishly intense. Korn comes to mind also but theyve gotten kind of lame over the years. Do you guys know what I mean, music that is emotionally charged, where the singer really gets into it and basically looses it when singing, changes pitch, you know, seems to really perform with the music. Any suggestions guys? Thanks and dont tell me dashboard confessional either, lol, been there done that.

Wicked band music? Do you think?

Okay, well, I found this sheet music for a whole band to play. It's some selctions from the musical Wicked. Well, I'm hoping I can persuade my band director to purchase the music and allow the band class (mine in specific) to play.

My questions are as follow: Do you think the band director will allow it? Also, has anyone purchased this sheet music, and if so, do you think it appropriate for a band that has been playing for three years?

The link to the sheet music is here:

It depends on your director. My band director would only let us play old music. If your director like pop music and present pop culture, then maybe. The least you can do is present it to him and find out what he says.

HAHA. Classical music is NOT over...YEA I see. Then what do you call this?

Music? WOW. This musician is just fascinating. John Cage was a true genius. I was astonished when i heard this piece of music. YEA. Classical music still continues.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=q865x7K_QP...

%26lt;was being sarcastic%26gt;

the immense amount of creativity in that piece truly fascinated me. How about you?

Why do some people struggle to be modern and philosophical? Is this even music? WHAT IS THIS?

Aren't you tired? I unequivocally agree with you, Malcom.

Please don't call me narrowminded. This is horrifying. This is completely preposterous.

HAHA. Classical music is NOT over...YEA I see. Then what do you call this?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Previously, when I have waxed philosophical about the state of classical music from the end of WWII to present, I have intimated that Cage represents the final devolution of music from aesthetic beauty to well... noise. Having viewed your link, I can't say that it did much to change my mind, and it is a mind that is ready and willing to be educated, enlightened - inspired even. Schoenbergs obscure and atonal structures pushed the envelope as far as it could go, but there is a fine line - up in these lofty realms between music and cacophany. As you can hear, in the piece in the link, that line was clearly crossed.

Creating something that is unique for the purpose of its uniqueness is not art. Were that the case we could all be artists (n.b. I do not count myself amongst that doubty group).

I would love to weigh in with some erudite and piquantly witty critique, but the pretention of intellectualism escapes me. Does this piece have any significance - well if you subscribe to the opinion that serious music has gone into hibernation then yes... it signifies the beginning of a long and cold winter. Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and I will see you in the spring.

Edit: Hey, I thought I was the curmudgeon on this forum! There is not need for despair Al... there is plenty of room in the curmudgeon's cave - I'll get Ludwig to move over a bit. We'll wait out the winter until beauty flies north again. In the meantime there's plenty of fabulous stuff for a young man of your calibre to invest his energy in. I suggest a heavy dose of Scriabin, with a side of Brahms.

Edit#2: I think I understand what Delicious is saying, but as an appreciator of Schoenbergs music, I don't consider myself someone who is reticent to leave my comfort zone. Cage's stuff is simply "unmusical" composed mainly of sonic gimmickry. You could obtain a similar effect by taking the piano and tossing it down a flight of stairs. If you want a musical commentary of the War, try Prokofiev's fifth and sixth symphonies.

HAHA. Classical music is NOT over...YEA I see. Then what do you call this?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

I played John Cage's piece for twelve radios when I was in college. Personally, I thought it was boring.
ughh. that song was horrible and annoying. yeah sure they wanted to represent the holocaust from it, but they could have made it more musical. not just hitting nasty notes over and over.
Pure rubbish....you may as well listen to techno or rap.
Look at all the narrow-minded, closed-eared reactionaries coming out of the woodwork! I grant you this isn't any easy two-minute listen but, given its subject matter, did you expect nice cozy tunes and sweet harmonies? It's all the more remarkable when you consider it was written in 1942, when the atrocities of the holocaust were being pretty effectively covered up by the Nazis and their allies.

John Cage isn't for everyone, it's true, but it's a little rich insulting it like that. Music is about communication. I bet that piece of music stirred SOMETHING within you. You might not have enjoyed the experience but not all music is about sweetness and light and all things fluffy and relaxing.

This is what makes me despair in this forum - people being too lazy to take the trouble of listening outside their armchair zone. Go listen to your Moonlight Sonatas and Pachelbel Canons if you can't take a bit of tough stuff.
ok you curmudgeons united ... there are classical composers out there and still alive and writing... Jake Heggie, Ned Rorem, even Andre Previn goes truly classical at time ...of course you can't like everything they have written (some of it stinks, some is good) but they are writing what you call a dead art form and getting performed and recorded

EDIT John Cage's son thought his "music" "s***ked" so who are we to disagree with hs family
I can testify that classical composers are alive and well, and much in demand. I work with two of them. There is so much work to do, if only I didn't have to sleep.
YAWWNNN!!

Quite honestly, you need to get over yourself.

I just don't understand what's the bloody big deal. So you don't dig John Cage, then don't listen to it. Just because you don't like bleu cheese doesn't mean that every bleu cheese factory has to be shut down.

Composers will write whatever music they are inspired to write, whether you have high or low regards for their pieces.

Any suggestions?

Career in music?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Currently music is not a great career to get into. It's very competitive and the wages are dirt poor most of the time.

The top of the heap is a Rock star of course. Most Rock stars don't make very much money. They live a flashy lifestyle but the record companies get all the money. Bands who sell milllions of records wind up filing bankruptcy oweing the record companies millions and without a penny to their name soon as the record company drops them. Many others who actually make money after being around long enough to demand a decent record deal wind up wasting all that income and still wind up destitute at the end of the peak of success. Only a few groups who went into it knowing what they were doing or the guys who stay around forever and have a huge following actually get stinking rich playing music.

The record companies are dinosaurs who are dieing a deserved death right now. Can't be too soon in my opinion. Many talented musician has been forced to play garbage, stripped of name and rights to music they did compose, unable to play what they really felt and wanted to play by record companies. Record companies are always trying to create one hit wonders and fads. So good music is shelved because it's been around too long. Bad music forced down everybodies throats.

The good news is that Indie artists are making it now. Sattalite radio is a chance to break the monopoly on the airwaves. MP3s are a chance for unsigned artists to make it big. The whole music model is changing. Selling CDs is no longer the way to make money with music. Live performances are for spending cash mostly. A whole new economic model is appearing and a good group with a good sound and perserverance can make a good living today without ever touching a ruinous record deal.

Most proffesional Rock musicians make a living by playing in a band and supplimenting that income giving music lessons, doing a day job or working in a music shop/recording studio or other music related area part time. Many make a decent living as studio artists and by giving lessons. The biggest problem with bands is we musicians are tempermental flakes :) Bands come and go and come and go again. So many ways for a band to break up and so hard to keep a band going long enough to gain the necessary recognition. So plan on music being a part time income. Even with a decent sized city, gigging unless you play cover tunes is not going to pay the bills. Playing cover tunes is for new musicians learning how to gig and for old vets who have given up and just want to make a living playing music. It's not where the real money is and who wants to play other peoples stuff when you write your own?

Other outlets are as a music teacher, working in a studio, doing music for movies and playing in a symphony. All of these require hard work along other paths but can finance your attempt to make it big. Music for movies is actually well paid but almost as competitive as making it big.

Get good at your instrament. When you date a gal take her to a band practice on the first or second date. Make SURE she knows that music is your life and that you are not going to grow up and get a real job as she'll put it too you later. Many a talented musician's career ended when pressure from the home front caused them to trade axe for shovel in some dead end job as a part of their soul slowly dies.

Get your gear and keep a full bands worth if you can. Remember musicians are flakes. As important as gear is all too often really talented musicians will be without it. I'm a guitarist primarily but my basses are usually what the bass player plays when we jam even when the bass player has thier own. (Spectre 4 string that just growls and purrs. For old school stuff got a Gibson Grabber that have such a gravelly bottom end it's perfect for certain tunes/styles) Times when I played bass for a group my guitars have been used for recording or special gigs)

You've got the talent, got the gear then it's time to make it happen. That means hooking up with hungry musicians who are dedicated and that you can work with. This is actually the hardest part by far. Substance abuse, spouses, injury, economics, band infighting, musical direction, egos, all some of the many poisons to a band. I've heard guys that blow anybody the record companies have signed away. They couldn't keep it together long enough to make it though. Some are impossible to play with. Every song a long solo or getting them to actually show up to practices is impossible.

Once you have a group with the talent and dedication then it's just a matter of getting your stuff out. Groups like Blue October and Brand New Sin are groups that are on the verge of forcing mainstream music to let them in. Getting big without a record company is very doable today. DRM is making it harder, if Microsoft and the record companies get their way it'll close the doors on indie artists again. So quit buying CDs from the big record labels. By them from places like www.cdbaby.com and dump windoze. Use a Mac or Linux instead. Both are far better sound editing platforms anyway. Every penny you give Microsoft and the record companies is a penny they will use to try to prevent you from making it in music. The old school method is very anti-artist and strangles music. Don't let them kill the music a second time.

Having a gimic never hurts. Name recognition is the big thing to open doors. People hear of you they will be more open to listening too you. In modern music don't confine yourself ot a single sub genre. You have the whole world as an audience now. If you play in 3 or 4 genres thats even better.

Good luck with things. Hope to hear your stuff in a few years or sooner.

Career in music?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

If you're serious about performing and writing professionaly, contact your local Musicians Union and ask about literature. It's a hard business to get by in, you may go months without being able to effectively pay your bills, so don't give up any job you have just because you got a gig. Those last only one night and it's easy to spend your earnings on a few well-deserved treats. The best thing you can do is whore yourself to whoever is willing to hear what you have to offer, eventually someone will show interest. Talk yourself up like you're the next big thing and BE PERSISTENT! Don't worry about bothering people. If you find you're pissing someone off, back off. Just try and try and don't get discouraged. Good luck, let me know how you do and how I can help.
Please develop your listening power. Reading and writing does help of course. But if you have have powerful ears, and if you are able to remember a musical piece, you save a lot of time in playing by not looking at it as a text.Love music by heart.

To develop skills to excel in memorising any musical piece, takes a lot of time (years). .This will happen if you hear the music again and again for several hours and play in bits and pieces. When you join those bits and practise it, you will find wonders in the creation.

If you want to become a famous musician, you have to learn Piano(not Key board/Synthesisers) and play it well. It is the complete instrument of music. On Piano you can innovate as well. Once you are through, you can play most of the instruments.

Get some of the famous musicians' numbers and get stared

Incidentally, I must tell you that my son, aged 13, can play Piano for eight hours with short breaks, without looking at the notations, and has been termed as a Master Pianist by a leading news paper. Although he was studying Music from Royal School and passed a grade, he did not feel that it was important to read and write notations. Some numbers, he plays are truly very fast. Once it was calculated that he had played 2000 notes per minute. This was possible because he spent very little on notation reading.

Keep it up, donot feel that you are inferior or superior. Be dedicated to music and love it from the bottom of heart and you will be successful musician one day. Best wishes to you.
It's true, being a professional musician is not easy--but then again, being a professional *anything* in a specialized field is not easy. You have to take it seriously like any other profession--study hard/practice, network, get internships/get noticed.

There's all sorts of things you can do with a love for music--be a publicist, a recording engineer, a studio musician, a producer, a record promoter, a songwriter, a music teacher, or a music therapist. Get a feel for the industry by seeking out internships. Study music from all angles--music history, classical music theory, world music. As you get to know more, you'll be more able to narrow down what you want to do.
If you can't be the musician, well you should at least try. However, there are so many other jobs.

You could write songs, and sell them.

Is Italian music considered Latin music?

I want to listen to Italian music. I know it exists...but on every music player and download service out there, there isn't a genre for "Italian"...only "Latin"....I'm concerned this may be more of Mex/Spanish. Can anybody clarify this for me and tell me where I can find some Italian music? (I there a station on Yahoo Launchcast?)

Is Italian music considered Latin music?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Well, latin music includes the music of many countries and comes in many varieties, from the simple, rural conjunto music of northern Mexico to the sophisticated habanera of Cuba, from the symphonies of Heitor Villa-Lobos to the simple and moving Andean flute. Music has played an important part in Latin America's turbulent recent history, for example the nueva canci璐竛 movement. Latin music is very diverse, with the only truly unifying thread being the use of the Spanish language, or the Portuguese language, in Brazil.Obviously,it has nothing to do with italian music.

Like other elements of Italian culture, Italian music is generally eclectic. No parochial protectionist movement has ever attempted to keep Italian music pure and free from foreign influence, except briefly under the Fascist regime of the 1920s and 30s.As a result, Italian music has kept elements of the many peoples that have dominated or influenced the country, including Germanic tribes, Arabs, French and Spanish. The country's historical contributions to music are also an important part of national pride. The relatively recent history of Italy includes the development of an opera tradition that has spread throughout the world; prior to the development of Italian identity or a unified Italian state, the Italian peninsula contributed to important innovations in music including the development of musical notation and Gregorian chant.

Immigrant populations from around the Mediterranean, especially Greece, the Balkans and North Africa, have established large communities in the southern peninsula over the last thousand years. As a result, folk music on Sicily and the southern Italian mainland display features typical of elsewhere in the Mediterranean. These include an excessive nasality in the voice and an extremely ornamental approach to pitch.Lomax's description of southern Italian singing is widely cited: "A voice as pinched and strangulated and high-pitched as any in Europe. The singing expression is one of true agony, the throat is distended and flushed with strain, the brow knotted with a painful expression. Many tunes are long and highy ornamented in Oriental style."Melody has typically been important in most Italian musical forms, even at the expense of text and harmonic complexity. This is true in opera, popular music and even, to some extent, in modern text-centered styles such as Italian hip hop and the music of the cantautori singer-songwriters.

Famous italian singers(older):Raffaella Carr鑴?Albano Carrisi,Adriano Celentano,Toto Cutugno,Romina Power,Vasco Rossi,Mina,Milva,Lucio Dalla,Claudio Baglioni

Is Italian music considered Latin music?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

like what? opera? circus music?
No, they have nothing to do with each other. Italian songs are also known as Canzonna, so you could look for that. I don't hink you'll find a unified place with lots of resources, though, your source may be Amazon.com, imports.
What do you mean bye Italian? Do you mean the music of Italy? Music that Italian Americans listen to.

The music of Italy ranges across a broad spectrum of opera and instrumental classical music, the traditional styles of the country's diverse regions, and a body of popular music drawn from both native and imported sources. Music has traditionally been one of the cultural markers of Italian national and ethnic identity and holds an important position in society and in politics. Italian innovation in musical scales, harmony, notation, and theater enabled the development of opera in the late 16th century, and much of modern European classical music, such as the symphony and concerto.

There really is no genre called Italian music because it ranges from Opera tto instramental music.

Allegiance to music is integrally woven into the social identity of Italians but no single style has been considered a characteristic "national style". Most folk musics are localized, and unique to a small region or city.[8][9] Italy's classical legacy, however, is an important point of the country's identity, particularly opera; traditional operatic pieces remain a popular part of music and an integral component of national identity. The musical output of Italy remains characterized by "great diversity and creative independence (with) a rich variety of types of expression. On yahoo you can listen to opera and tell it what you like. Songs, what your favorite group is, instrament etc. It may take a little searching and a litte time but you can listen to the music you like on yahoo. check wikipedia.org also look at EZ-MP3s.com
hi, I'm italian. I'm sorry if there are mistakes but my english isn't perfect as yours.

If you're looking for italian music like frank sinatra's, it'll be the most difficult thing in the world. But if you want to listen to italian music we have singers like Tiziano Ferro (he sang in a duet with Jamelia), Eros Ramazzotti (he sang in a duet with Anastacia), Nek and if you're looking for italian groups we have The New Story or Friday Star.
To find Italian music, try searching under "Best Music that God's Creations Ever Made."... that should show you Italian music... Latin music is Salsa, marriachi and Ricky Martin.

You could also try searching for Italian musicians and then see what other music is recommended... for example, search for Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, Bon Jovi, Gwen Steffani, Luciano Pavarotti.
If you're saying Italian Music, it will offcourse derivde to the Clessical music.

If you're talking about something like Frank Sinatra, or something in that time, just browse on the genre, like "Jazz", ofcourse they will mix the Italian with the none Italian.

I would suggest you to find the Artist name first then browse their...

Music complexity question?

There are a lot of people who are already know that Beethoven, Bach and Mozart were not simply composing musicians, in a fact that their music was very complex. When they wrote their masterpieces, they took in mind how every individual music note will affect the listener. As a result, they had to have the perfect tempo, and just the right note at the right place. What this does, is, when you listen to Mozart, you suddenly feel happier, without knowing why. This kind of music effects your subconsciousness, and every cell of your body. It produces an effect greater than any modern songs. Does anyone have a link where I can read about the specific songs and what effects they will produce?

Music complexity question?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I haven't found any source so detailed, but here is some.

* about tempo...

how tempo effectting the listener.

Depends on the listener's modality (sensitivity of senses), auditorial to be exact; and the listener's conciusnes to the audio surrounds him/her.

Tempo will effect hertbeat, that pumps blood to brain, and that means supply Oxygen that will effect the brain activity called the brain wave, wich certain frequency will be apropriate to do some activity.

When studying the best tempo was about 60 - 80 beat per minute, wich means the same tempo of Heart beat and brain wave called the Alpha wave.

Source: Quantum Learning

* About genre and instrumen...

I've reed a Religion book , a Christian music, wich said that they've made a test on a plant and made a conclusion that some music genre and instrument and even the musician aura have effect on the surrounding.

I quite agree about this, but i can't proof theoritically.

I do believe that when a person have a strong intention, other could notice just by his/her aura.

source: a christian music book wich i've forget the title

* about feeling effect...

well, 1 thing i know and believe about how music effect one's feeling, is purely by suggestion, or by experience.

ex. on food: parents teach their child to finished their food by giving candy/ice cream after as prize, and contrary scholding with a chilly whn they didn't finished, the children will get doctrinize, in future when they eat sweat stuff they will feel happy as praised/prized and contrary getting sad when having chilly.

this for now.

Hope this help.

Music complexity question?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

You are probably thinking of the Mozart effect. I'm having a flashback to music history but it was believed that music could have a positive or negative impact on a person .
I'm not sure about websites, but i can suggest the book "Music The Art of Listening" by Jean Ferris - i believe it's published by Mcgraw Hill. The book includes an accompanied 4 cd set for listening to the examples coverd in the book, and it's very interesting and covers quite a bit of the classical period you speak of, gives insight to a lot of the things you are thinking of. I was given my copy by a friend who found it at a yard sale , the cd set was unopened. check your local bookstore if needed.

Why turkish music and greek music are so similar, sometimes ? Who influenced the other?

I noticed that sometimes greek music seems to very oriental, concerning the rythms, the percussions. And also turkish music sometimes seems to be more greek than arabic ( I know that turks and arabs are not the same).

The Greeks influenced the Turks ? Or the Turks influenced the Greeks ?

Was it the same process such as Spanish/Arabic processus ? (sometimes Flamenco looks like arabic music)

Why turkish music and greek music are so similar, sometimes ? Who influenced the other?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Both countries are bounded through centuries

Beyond conflicts and wars Greeks and Turks have been living together, sharing cultures, music and language

it is so hard to say who first influence who

I think we together discover our music !

Besides, Greece's geographical position gives the unique advantage to combine both western and eastern cultures (music is a basic part of culture too)

This is what makes us different from other Europeans

Greetings from Greece

Why turkish music and greek music are so similar, sometimes ? Who influenced the other?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Greece was part of the Ottoman empire. The two counties have invaded each others territory many times so there are many similarities.
Hard to tell... however there might be a couple of clues:

When the Turks arrived in the area back in the 1000ac, they were a nomadic tribe of warriors, while the Greeks-Byzantines had flourishing empire.

Music is inherent and necessary in the Christian religion and worship. It is necessary to have some musical training to become an Orthodox priest and the public is expected to take part in the melody. Muslims do not do that.

Turkish music comes directly from the Ottoman music tradition. Ottoman (alike what Turks like to claim) were not just Turks, they were also Greeks, Jews, Armenians, Serbs, Bulgarians, some Persians, Kurds etc etc. The cultural mixing off all these people produced the ottoman music.
The Byzance...In reality this is due to a common past, which origines are in Byzance...If you hear the folklore turk, it is like ours, and also the hymns of the church are so similar
Not only music, also food, backgammon, ouzo (raki),etc...

And the girls of both countries are so beautiful !
believe me, greek music is better.YOU ROCK GREECE!!!
If you were to hear Byzantine chants composed long before the Seltzuk Turks' invasions you will discern similar patterns in chords and progressions between them and the Turkish music and even the wavering falcettos of flamenco.
The answer is simple. All music in the west is based on original music from ancient Greece. During Hellenistic times it spread to the rest of the world to the east almost to India and to the west though the Romans to Europe. Changing and adapting all the time. Arabic music is based on Greek modes of music. The Turks who are late comers in the area 10th century ad get influenced both by both Byzantine and Arabic musical theory. Flamenco by the way is deeply entrenched in Arabic music. It's a child of it and inadvertently of Greek origin
This is the Greek category, so Turks are influenced by Greeks.
if we have to pick, its more likely(and true in my opinion)greeks influnced by Turks( would make more sense) as if you think about them living under turkish flag for ages, size and population of Greece etc..
A LOT OF THINGS IN THE CIVILIZED MODERN WORLD (AS IN TODAY) WAS CREATED IN GREECE.

OLYMPICS,PARLIAMENT,CONGRESS,MEDICAL STUDIES,PHYCOLOGY, WINE MAKING, JUST TO NAME A FEW, SO ITS NOT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ALSO HAD A HUGE IMPACT ON MUSIC. GREECE WAS A COUNTRY LONG BEFORE THE TURKEY IN ITS CURRENT PLACE EXISTED
I dont think that there is an influence from both sides to each other because we have the same ethnic culture such as ; we both drink raki , eat musakka , kofte , cacik etc. If you visit Bodrum you will see even the houses are the same as in ones in Greece.

so we can say it is mutual .

Music on web site?

I have a request to put music on a site but they want the music to play continuously throughout the site. Usually, i have seen them and done them where the music starts over when you go to each page. Is there anyway to do this?

Music on web site?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I haven't tried this, but perhaps you could use frames. The outer page would have the music (via %26lt;embed%26gt; and/or %26lt;bgsound%26gt;) and then you could frame in all of the sub-pages. Unfortunately, you'll get all of the badness that come with frames (such as some browser imcompatibilities and printing problems), but many sites use them, so I guess people are fairly comfortable with them.

Music on web site?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

you can use http://radioblogclub.com it's pretty easy to install and will convert your mp3s to flash files so no one can steal them. also it will let you open the music in a popup so that solves the problem of having to restart the music whenever you open a new page.

Music-splitting software?

I'm not sure what exactly you'd call this type of software, but I'm looking for a program (preferably free, or share-/free-ware) that can separate the vocals from the music/beats of a music file so that I could mix vocals with other music, etc. Can anyone give me a name I can find on the web or download.com?

Music-splitting software?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

It's not that easy. There is software that tries, but with mixed results.

During the mixing of a song, the instruments can be biased to the "left" or "right" stereo channel. The lead singer is usually balanced equally. If you compare the Left to the Right, the signal they have in common is the lead vocals, which you can then split off and save separately. This is how some "voice cancelling" kits work.

HOWEVER, any other signal that was equally balanced across Left and right will also be stripped out. So it depends on how the original track was done.

The Beatles, for instance, were known to send one voice or instrument exclusively Left (or Right), making it hard to strip out.

Music-splitting software?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Vocal removers do NOT work that well. Just search for it and you'll find some examples, and their results are lacking. There's simply NO GOOD WAY to remove just a PART of a sound.

Music production?

Im planning on going to MI (Musicians Institute) in 2009 and planning on becoming a music producer. It's what I've figured out I want to do in my future... is be in the music business. Although I'm positive this is what I want to do, I have pretty much little experience in this field and I was wondering if maybe anyone had any pointers in what I could do to become more aware of music production. I live in Atlanta, so im sure there might be some type of like class or something for teens that want to pursue this, but I really don't know what to search for or where to get started.

Music production?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Hey, I got accepted in MI ( percussion program) back in 2003 too. But I couldnt stay in because I didn't have the $2,500 loan balance.

But, I do produce all my own CDs/DVDs as a Solo Artist

So, I'll tell what I've learned so far from personal experience in the last 2 years of recording demo CDs.

Leanr the latest Recording tecnhiques and Recording softwares like Sonar, Cubase ( my personal fav!) Garage Band from Apple, Cakewalk for PCs. Also, sharpen your timing by using "a Click track" on all your projects to prevent major time mistakes. Also, practice using a Metronome too like those killer QUIKTIME metronomes.

Learn how to know the difference between 70BPMS ( beats per minute) and 100 BPMS. Also, learn how to read sheet music ( notation) and Guitar chords ( tablature)

Also, remember ...every band is different in terms of style, genre, stage presence, dynamics and etc. You have to "feel" out each band as they come to you.

Also, use DDrum triggers for miking live drums in recording sessions. They save a lot of time.

Also, use Locking tuners such as Sperzels or Schallers

on guitars too to prevent guitar going "out of tune" during recording sessions. I've had this happen to me many times and it's a time waster and money waster. Good luck

Can you create your own music genre in Sims 2?

I want to put my own music into Sims 2, but I know how to add music files My Docs Ea Sims2 Music then you select the music genre. Is there any way to make another genre like "My Music"?? Having a problem with xp media center, music specifically?

I've been using XP media center for almost a year now, to play videos and music, but just today for whatever reason, when I try to play my music, I get a message that says

"Unable to view music by album/artist/song, (etc.). Either the music does not contain album information, or there is no music in your Media Library. To add music to your Media Library, press More Info on the remote control and then select Add Music."

If I try to go and re-add my music folders again, it looks like nothing is happening, it's not even accessing my hard drive. Has this problem ever happened to anyone else? Media Center has been running fine for me all year, that's why I don't understand why this is just happening for me now. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give. This is the first ever problem that windows media center has given me any problems, I love using it.

Saint-Saen Organ Concerto
the bridal march. "o promise me" , dylan wrote - "the wedding song", some soft beethoven should be ok- moonlight sonata, fur elise, etc, you light up my life!

DO NOT PLAY- "love stinks!" or "this Masquerade" or "whose bed have your boots been under"- although it could be hilarious- it might spoil the mood
canon in d major
try: The Wedding March from A Midsummers Night Dream, by Mendelssohn

http://www.sibeliusmusic.com/cgi-bin/sho...
Wow! wedding songs I can help with, but in a church setting!

Why dont you go to a catholic Church talk to a Sister or one Fathers and asked what proper songs to play that way you dont offend anyone. Since you and your friend are not religious.

Usually in other church setting I've being to they dont play any outside song except hyms, but at the culture hall for the receptions they do. Good luck! Have a wonderful wedding.
go to find out from a catcheist of the Catholic church or else you will disgrace urself.
My list would include

prelude classics...

Canon De Pachelbel

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

Other possibilities

Let it be Me ... This is a reworking of a French song recorded in 1955 by Gilbert Becaud called "Je T'Appartiens." best known performers probly the Everly Brothers

The Rose ... by Amanda McBroom, best known performance Bette Midler

Grow Old with Me by John Lennon and performed by him.

Friends by Elton John and Bernie Taupin from the soundtrack.

The sheet music should be fairly easy to obtain.

best,

cez
You absolutely, positively must talk with the priest or designated church lady first. Some churches are very particular about what music is, and is not, allowed. When my sister got married the church (Catholic) would not allow the traditional wedding march (Here Comes the Bride) to be played. I am not sure why, except to say that it is not acceptable religious music. My wife and I also got married in a Catholic church, I honestly do not remember any restrictions on music selections.

Some churches will require the couple to pay the church's designated musician and/or singer, even if the couple hires someone else for the ceremony.
try looking at a hymnal, most have an index which lists out the prupose or setting for each hymn... I LOVE Jesu, joy of man's desiring. It's a beautiful song, plus there is no way you will forget the music because EVERY church I have been to has hymnals... (and they are used for free)
I think some catholic churches are pretty rigid about the music played, they probably have a play list for you to work off of and you can probably find the music in a hymnal that they will surely let you borrow.

Check with the church first before you do anything.
go with anything classical, it just sounds amazing played in a church and I am sure you can pull the music online somewhere. Or grab sheet music from the music store, or borrow it from a friend.
If it's for church ceremony, a love theme music is un-necessary, try more religius theme Baroque-classical: Ave Maria, Pie Jesu, etc. Something from J.S. Bach will do nicely...

Maybe you can find a singer or a solo instrument to play the melody, i would suggest a wood -wind instrument.

But NO Romantic (such as Beethoven) and NO Pop... Unless something like 'You Raise Me Up', it's quite find

Good Luck

Hope This Help

Is the music business getting a taste of its own medicine?

The music industry is in an uproar about losing music sales, but here is the thing...they've been using technology to milk us for years. From records to 8-track, tapes to cds, and so on, how many times have we had to pay for the same music because we bought a new car, stereo, etc.? Are people wrong to use technology as well to benefit themselves, just as the music business has been doing to fatten their wallets through the years?

Wicked band music? Do you think?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

It depends on your director. My band director would only let us play old music. If your director like pop music and present pop culture, then maybe. The least you can do is present it to him and find out what he says.

Do you Guys like Yanni's Music being stolen in all the films across the Globe ?? Especially Tam

There are many channels in the TV that never compose music for their own use rather what they do is that they simply put on Yanni's Music why is this happening and Why Yanni is not taking action regarding this?

What should we do to stop this curse for music is a ART which is publicly accessible to it's composer and privately accessible to GLobal.

To be frank those music sonatas which they steal from Yanni's and when they cut copy paste it to the Serials in the Gemini TV it is really pathetic that is the Divine music's originality is lost..

Guys you know one thing?? Yanni's Nostalgia the very famous music composed by Yanni during his Child hood. Tamil musicians have not left this too. I am really shocked to listen in one of the scenes in Telugu Film Nostalgia being played at the back ground for a Comedy Scene!!!

Plz Advice me regarding this dear friends!!!

I love and Admire musicians cuz I am a musician but I want them to copy music usefully but not breaking patent rights!!

Do you Guys like Yanni's Music being stolen in all the films across the Globe ?? Especially Tamil films??

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

I'm a fan of Yanni as well, and I've noticed some of Yanni's music are used by the local TV broadcast as well.

Personally I do not know whether the broadcast company had some sort of deal to use Yanni's music, but I believe they dont have a legit documentations for that.

It's ironic that TV broadcasting companies are the one who go against the copyright law but no one's taking any action on them.

One thing I'd like to add that, if they could enhance the scene with the music, it'll be a good idea, though in terms of legitmate it's not good at all.

Music for a party (Dance/R&B/Rap/Trance/Techno/P...

So I'm thinking of throwing a really big party over at my house but i need some help with the music and I'll start collecting songs suggestions from now.

Music for a party (Dance/R%26amp;B/Rap/Trance/Techno/P...

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

Sorry about the R%26amp;B and Rap, but...

I listen Techno/Trance 10 years already.

What you need most are songs from:

Armin van Buuren

Paul van Dyk (Crush, For An Angel)

Tiesto (Traffic, Love comes again)

Darude (Sandstorm, Feel the beat)

Ferry Corsten

Astral Projection (Another world)

Paul Oakenfold

Music for a party (Dance/R%26amp;B/Rap/Trance/Techno/P...

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Well, for the European trance crew, you can NEVER go wrong with the following, known as the "Big 4": Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren.

If you want more progressive, turn to Sasha and Digweed.

If they like slower and balearic, Altitude and Markus Schulz.

Techno is always a given when you play Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin.

Sorry, I'm not too well-versed with house...

For darker trance (almost jungle), I pick Christopher Lawrence. For HARD dance, DJ Micro (who also does breaks, like Skribble and Icey). For goa-psy, Juno Reactor.

Hope I helped! Any others? Send an email, ~N
I love all of these songs. They give me massive amounts of energy especially when they are turned up loud with their strong pulsing kicks and bass lines. I get almost all of my music from europeans. I used to love digweed and sasha but now the stronger sounds of people like shiloh are much bigger than the old dark progressive sound. Go with these:

The format I'm giving you here is ***artist - song title (remix or remixer)***.

Abakusu Indu - Liquid Sound Design (Shiloh)

Achillea - The Seeress Prophecy (Micah)

Aquasky %26amp; Meat Katie - Overneath (Original)

Delerium - Angelicus (Redanka)

Dr. Kucho - Hallelujah (Original)

General Midi - Turn It Loud

Gnarls Berkley - Crazy (Shiloh)

King Unique - To The Left (L.E.D.)

LP - While You Where Gone

Pat Foosheen - The Unthinkable (Habersham)

Prodigy - Spitfire (Future Funk Squad)

Terry Grant - I'll Kill You (Substrata)

UNKLE - Eye For Eye (Dylan vs Force)

Any of these songs could be found on soulseek the free p2p program, and most are probably at beatport.com. These are some of the strongest House/Breaks/Trance/Progressive Tracks out there right now.

Just about anything by Daft Punk . They are from Europe(France) , I believe . Their music is awesome .
All the techno suggested was good, but variety is key: 'Jump Around' by House of Pain, is energetic. Kosheen's 'Hide You', Fergalicious by Fergie is new and upbeat.

Music definition help?

This semester in my fine arts class is all about music. One of our assignments requires us to define various terms that have some kind of relation to music. I'm stuck on two of these..

- Hip

- Ghetto Sled

I know "hip" means cool. But I need to know how it relates to music. And I have no idea what a "ghetto sled" is. Help please?

Music definition help?

-(Myspace music www.myspace.com)

A full-size American automobile, of 1970's or earlier manufacture, V-8 powered (usually a big-block at that) in fair-to-poor cosmetic condition, but generally still in good enough mechanical condition to go fast in a straight line. "Ghetto" refers to one of the vehicle's native environments and rough exterior, and "sled" to the way they ride low but smoothly, usually on worn out suspensions, and with numerous passengers.

Probably derived from the more general term "lead sled"

Quite arguably the opposite of a rice burner, as they are heavy, extremely durable, American built, tend to have more go than show.

"I cracked the exhaust on my ghetto sled, again."

"My Chrysler is becoming a damn ghetto sled."

More definitions here:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph...

Why is this musical? My guess is that the windows of these "low riders" are often left open to let the juiced-up, bass-heavy sound system inside braodcast to the outside.

Music definition help?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

Ghetto Sled: extremely long sedan, typically dating from the mid-70's.

Also: HOOPTIE, G-RIDE

"Ned, I'll swing by your place and pick up you and Thelma in my ghetto sled."

Okay, Bowser, how is it that out of the whole USA it's YOU and ME answering ebonics questions????

LMAO

Wheres the music?

ok for about 10-15 years MTV was great! damn near nothing but music. WHAT HAPPENED? after awhile they got mtv2 and that had music for about a year, my theory is that it all started to decay the day that headbangers ball was taken off the air and it stopped being about music but about $$ some of the shows on mtv were good ie. beavis and butthead, daria, and celebrity deathmatch. but now there is nowhere but the internet to see any good music videos.

Music for Karma (Tales of the Abyss)?

Anyone know where I can get tabs or sheet music (preferably online, whether I have to order a book for it or get if free, don't really care)? The instruments I have access to are alto saxophone, an electric guitar, and a piano (actually, now that I think about it, we have an electric piano keyboard... so whatever the music is for I guess would work.)

Also, if there's somewhere that I can get sheet music (again, I don't mind ordering a book) for other Tales games, mind telling me? Thank you %26lt;3

I don't know what they are using for this decade, but to be honest, I am very disappointed in what has happened to music. It seems to me that there is not a lot of musicianship in music anymore...it sounds very manufactured and unoriginal.

My favorite decade of music is the 70s, but I am also a big fan of 80s metal.

Gimme Zeppelin, Maiden, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Queensryche, etc...

What do KIDS call the music of this decade? And what decade had the BEST music?

-(Myspace.com graphics myspace.com)

I think it's called Millenium music? Anyway, I liked the 90s mostly. It was when I was a kid and there were lots of good music then. (i.e. =bobby Brown, whitney houston, Mariah Carey, the cure, Nirvana, etc.)
Geez, I love all music. Depends on my mood, but 80's seem to be a happy go lucky and everyone is having fun kinda decade.
I love the music TODAY. I'm 17 years old, and I listen to a lot of stuff!

I surf for a living (other than school..) so a lot of people say, "You listen to Bob Marley, huh?" That is true. I listen to a lot of reggae. I listen to ALL sorts of music...so I don't think there is a "music of the decade". It depends on what people want to hear..
I don't think it has a name yet.

80's and early 90's had the best music!
.All music is good music if you like it.and it touches you in some way .I like all kinds of music. You cant judge what others like or their taste in music.I hate to here older people down the young peoples music.I'm a grown azz woman and I like some rap, some rock, some R%26amp;B,a little country and classical. Its all good because I enjoyed it.We dont have to like someones music,so dont listen to it no one forces you. And you arent the Music God.....All music is good.

Good luck

Good alternative music? Preferably with male vocals?

I'm having trouble finding new music to download. I like alternative rock music, music from the 90's, some pop, punk rock and the like. Some artists I like are Black Box Recorder, the Dandy Warhols, Head Automatica, Garbage, Fiona Apple, and then lesser known people like Nicky Click, and Avenue D.

I'd like more male vocals in my music, since currently well more than half of my iPod is primarily female vocals. But if there's a really good band/artists with female vocals let me know. =D

Ok. Hopefully you get what I'm saying.

When downloading music to your IPOD and you aready have music on it and you just added more music to your library.

How can I just get my ipod to download the new music only instead of erasing the whole harddrive, then reloading it (all the old songs it just erased) plus the new songs I added to the list?

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I hooked up my iPod and waited for it to automatically put the new songs from my library onto my iPod, but it wouldn't do it after several tries, so I had to erase what was on there and put every song back on. This is the first time it has ever done this, but I figured it was because I authorized this new desktop I'm on? I thought it was just me, but guess not? Has this happened to you in the past?
Ok just open the itunes window and make it so it covers half your screen, then open another window where your music downloads to, on the other half of your screen.. then highlight the music you want on your ipod and drag it over to itunes.. thats how i do it
